Spiders 101

It’s almost fall and the spiders are heading indoors. Different spiders like moisture and are found in basements, crawl spaces and other damp parts of your house and the others like drier warm areas. Spiders come inside looking for prey and they all like to hide in dark areas. Almost all spider species are predators as they like to eat insects, be it other bugs, spiders and any other prey they are able to pacify. Spiders do not chew their dinners rather they use digestive enzymes in their saliva to break down their food before eating it. Spider stomachs are very thin so there are unable to ingest large pieces of food. All spiders have eight legs, two body segments and three or four pair of eyes. Almost all spiders have poor vision. Spiders produce silk to spin webs, line their homes and construct egg sacs. Spiders enter homes through windows, doors and through cracks and gaps around door and window frames.
