1) One female mouse can have over 160 babies per year. In a perfect mouse world, females are able to have up to 12 babies every 2-3 weeks beginning when they’re 7-8 weeks old.

2) Tomcats don’t help much. Most cats are too well fed and just don’t care enough about mice, unless they need to let go of some energy. Mice may smell us and our pets but this doesn’t stop them from searching for food at all hours.

3) Snap traps are the way to go for catching a mouse. Unlike rats, mice are easily temped to eat the bait in a snap trap. There are the electric traps that work equally well. Don’t put out poison bait in your house because if the mouse dies behind the wall, you are looking at 3-4 weeks of smell.

4) Peanut butter is # 1. Mice are attracted to fruits, seeds, and grains, although they will eat almost anything. Mice can go weeks without food but if they are starving will eat their feces, their babies, and yes their own tails.

5) Mice can squeeze through openings the size of your baby finger. Without a collarbone, as long as their head can get through a hole, their bodies will collapse behind it and they are able to wiggle through.

6) Like fido, they’ll pee in all for corners. Mice mark their territory just like dogs. A single house mouse leaves behind dozens of fece pellets a day and dribble urine everywhere they go. It has been shown that the proteins in mice urine can trigger allergies and asthma.

7) Mice can smile like you and me. In a reaction to pain, mice will squint their eyes and bulge their noses and their cheeks. Although not proven, they will stick out their tongues as they escape the paws of your cat.
