A research company, the Centre for Economics and Business Research, released research showing the pressures posed by pests. The study found that upwards of 90 percent of all businesses surveyed suffered at least one pest infestation in the several years or one infestation every 20 months. Businesses suffering a pest infestation incurred increased maintenance, repair costs, damaged equipment, materials and a negative impact on staff morale. The report went on to say that pests cause a host of disruptions, from maintenance and repair expense, to replacement of stock. Proactive recommendations include four steps for pest management across any commercial environment:
.Exclusion that minimizes opportunities for entry.
.Pest knowledge to limit access to food and areas attractive to pests within businesses.
.Effective solutions to eradicate existing infestations.
.Regular checks for early warning signs of pest activity.
