Although harmless to humans, crickets feed on food of both plants and insects, including other crickets. Crickets are nocturnal and therefore during the day they hide in dark, moist places avoiding predators. They can live in a variety of environments, including fields, trees, tunnels, sheds and even in your garbage.  As the weather turns colder, crickets can invade your house and feed on fabrics, houseplants, paper and all crumbs that hit the floor. Different species of crickets while eat different foods, camel crickets like paper, field and house crickets feed on fabrics, including carpet, clothing, and upholstery. Large infestations of crickets can easily destroy expensive materials like silk and wool. Crickets are also known for the damage they can do to farms eating the roots and shoots of crops. Oh and ounce for ounce, crickets provide more than twice the protein of beef. Plus, that protein is the best kind, containing all nine essential amino acids. Crickets also pack nearly five times as much magnesium as beef.
