If you want to go green with only natural pest control products to keep insects, pests and rodents at bay here are a few ways. Diatomaceous earth is made of hard-shelled algae called diatoms. It kills most of the insects such as ants, spiders, silverfish, wasps, slugs and several others. It can be mixed with water and sprayed or just sprinkled around. Garlic and neem oils have been used a pesticide for years acting as a repellent. Boric acid powder mixed with some shortening, sugar and made into doughy balls can be used around your house. A safe alternative to controlling the rodents is the use of live traps and snap traps. In the garden bio-pesticides and botanical insecticides can be used. These include soaps, oils, powders that are less harmful to us humans and naturally break down quickly. Plant disease and fungi’s can also be attacked with natural pest control products.
