Odorous ants a.k.a. stink ant or coconut ant

SnipImage

These ants have a pungent odour similar to lemon-rotting coconut. Odorous ants move their nests around rapidly to avoid other ants, weather conditions or someone trying to kill them. These ants create large supercolony, with many satellite colonies in the immediate area. Other than being a nuisance, they have been known to contaminate food. They can be found beneath the floor or between walls, seeking warm and moist areas. Odorous ants feed on sweet honeydew produced by aphids, scales, mealybugs and most things you drop on the kitchen floor. Tips to get rid of these ants include: keep a clean kitchen floor, make sure there is no moisture under sinks and keep trees trimmed away from your house.
