Scary Spider Beetles

SnipImage

Spider beetles are unscrupulous vultures of stored products. They tend to feed on old and mouldy stuff. The adult spider beetles are known to remain active in freezing temperatures. Spider beetles often gain access to warehouses, mills, grain storage facilities, and attics with rodent or bird nests. Since the pests feed on feces and like to live in bird and rodent nests, they are typically unclean. Eliminating spider beetle infestations focuses on discarding tainted foods and removing access to other preferred food sources. As the pests feed on a wide variety of items and materials, precautionary measures prove challenging to do. Using airtight containers to store foods, vacuuming regularly, and removing rodent and bird nests from inside and around buildings is a good start. If you think that you have an infestation of spider beetles, first thing to do is tracking down the food source. Place sticky pads around the area you suspect to be the food sources. Any contaminated food should be thrown out.
