Wild animals rely on three main things for survival: water, food, and lodging, which can attract them into suburban neighborhoods. The most contact between wild animals and people is always in the summer. To avoid encounters with wildlife this summer here are a few tips. Clean up the property, close the gaps and sanitize their property. Cleaning around the yard prevents rodents and other wildlife from being attacked to your property. If you’re cleaning up your backyard, get the wood off the ground, stack things higher, getting them off property, this way you are changing the habitat. If you alter the habitat then you change the appeal. Gaps and holes in your home and sheds allow animals to find lodging inside. A 15 mm hole or a gap between a building and foundation is just big enough rodents to crawl through. Adding or repairing garage door sweeps and plugging any gaps with metal mesh material eliminates access into buildings. Pet owners should not leave their pets water and food bowls outside overnight. Leaving food or water outside for a long period of time can attract the wrong four legged animals.
