Sustainable living is a myth created by corporate organic trade groups. Statistically, the people most likely to buy organic food and bulk against biology are ignorant of real facts and fight science with the health of themselves and their children. It is a fact that we grow more food than 50 years ago with less than 10 percent of the pesticides. When you are at the grocery store and you make your purchasing decisions on labels suggest: organic, sustainable and no pesticides or fertilizer – then you need to examine the 10 myths of sustainability.

1: Nobody knows what sustainability really means.

2: Sustainability is all about the environment.

3: “Sustainable” is a synonym for “green.” –  Natural over the artificial?

4: It’s all about recycling. –  it is just a piece of the puzzle.

5: Sustainability is too expensive. -you have to spend some money up front to switch to a more sustainable technology

6: Sustainability means lowering our standard of living.

7: Consumer choices and grassroots activism, not government, will cause sustainability.

8: New technology is always the answer. -sometimes existing technology can make a huge difference.

9: Sustainability is ultimately a population problem. This is not a myth, but it represents a false solution.

10: Once you understand the concept, living sustainably is a breeze to figure out.  -turns out on closer examination this is quite problematic.
