Was that a dog or a rat??

Rats as big as Rottweilers once walked the earth with us, as well as, adorned the rotisserie over a spit fire. Signs of burns and cut marks on the rat bones suggested humans were indeed consuming them for food. The largest rodents once weighed over 5 kgs, about 10 times larger than rats that haunt our attics. Research also indicates that because they were free range rats, that they probably tasted like Christmas turkey.  Based on findings from other rat fossils these giant rats arrived about 1 million to 2 million years ago, signifying the rats and humans lived together. Around 10 centuries ago, most evidence of the bit bull sized vermin vanished. The return of the over-sized rats is inevitable, so be careful when you put that subway sandwich down on the park bench.
