Flying rats a.k.a. house sparrows

House sparrows are considered a pest by gardeners and bird lovers, and such given the nickname flying rats. The sparrow is partly responsible for declining populations of native birds such as the Bluebird, Chickadees, and Tree Swallows among others. House sparrows love pecking seeds and seedlings, buds, flowers, vegetables, and maturing fruits. The English sparrow is known carry diseases that can affect cats, dogs, livestock and us. Some of the lethal diseases include: Beef tapeworms, Salmonellosis, Schistosomiasis, and Toxoplasmosis. They are aggressive; destroying the eggs of competing species and attacking the adults. House sparrows live near humans because we provide protection from their natural predators. These birds do not migrate and live within several kilometers of where they hatched. To get rid of sparrows around your home: eliminate sources of food, including bird feeders intended for other species, seal any damage to the exterior of buildings and cover vents and other openings.
