The Globe Skinner a.k.a. the Dragonfly

Dragonflies are considered beneficial predators eating countless number of insects such as flies and mosquitoes (hundreds a day). Dragonflies are considered one of the first winged insects, going back 250 million years. There are more than 5,000 known species of dragonflies, all with serrated teeth. Hovering like a helicopter: they only eat prey they catch while flying, they mate mid-air and can travel 160 km’s in one day. Some will migrate 18,000 km round trip a year, the longest migration of any insect. Dragonflies clasp their prey with their feet. Some live only couple weeks and other up to a year. Dragonfly’s eyes take up most of its head, seeing everything except right behind them. They are considered good luck, they rarely invade homes, they are beneficial insects and a friend of you and me.
