Researchers found they were able to bring infertility to mice by giving one shot of a very specific antibody. Both males and females become infertile by the antibody; males stopped making sperm and females halted egg production. Within two months after the mice received their injection, they were unable to reproduce with zero side effects. It takes two months for the muscle to start producing enough antibodies. Once injected, the mouse’s muscles become anti-gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), antibody producers, making them sterile. According to Science Magazine, this mouse research will soon begin on feral cats. This could change the way communities deal with feral cat populations.
