The most troublesome pest around us
This year has recorded both Vancouver and Surrey among most bedbug-infested cities in B.C. Of course here in Delta we are a hop, skip and a bag full of bed bugs from catching up. Bed bugs are small, but can become such an annoyance in an otherwise joyful home. A normal treatment for bed bugs can take over three applications to irradiate the infestation which means the house is in turmoil for weeks. Specialists (Entomologists) say having a clean house does not prevent bed bugs, which can each lay up to five eggs in one day. In my experience the bedrooms that harbour bed bugs seem to be the ones that are stuffed with clutter. A couple quick suggestions for travers are to keep luggage elevated while you’re on vacation and away from furnishings. Upon returning home, luggage should be left in the garage and all clothing run through the washer and dryer at the highest appropriate temperature for 15 minutes. To find bed bugs, inspect beds, furnishings, picture frames and look for bed bugs, blood (feces) stains, dead bug casings and eggs.
